Specific admission requirementsCandidates need to be Bachelor or Master degree holders in construction engineering or in other building engineering majors, and have an average higher education diploma grade point no lower than Good according to the Bulgarian assessment scale. Candidates go for an interview.

 

Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning:

  • The recognition of credits procedure is based on documents submitted by the candidate:
  • Diploma or a transcript of prior learning;
  • International foreign language diplomas and certificates (English – Cambridge FCE, TOEFL; German - Zertifikat Deutsch, Deutsche Sprachdiplom (DSD), Zweite Stufe; Russian – ТРКИ; French – DELF; Spanish – DELE);
  • International computer skills diplomas and certificates, corresponding to ECDL (The European Computer Driving Licence).
  • Allocation of credits is done in compliance with the respective major's curriculum, and is based on the diplomas and certificates submitted by the candidate.

 

Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation requirements*In order to obtain a Master degree, students need to accumulate 90 credits, out of which 64,5 credits are awarded for compulsory courses, 7,5 credits are awarded for elective courses, 3 credits are awarded for optional courses and 15 credits are awarded for diploma project defence. Graduates of other building engineering majors are required to take additional exams for a total of 30 credits.


Profile of the programme: Master's programme "Building Constructions" aims to train specialists with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the design and implementation of various structures. The training is according to a curriculum that reflects the experience of leading universities in the country and abroad, as well as current developments and needs of the construction industry. The selection of subjects carries the idea of widespread training of the future engineers. Students shall acquire knowledge of the methodology of design on the national and European standards and also skills for the implementation of specialized software for the design of building structures. Work placements and internships set in the curriculum take place in Bulgarian and foreign companies, organizations and laboratories in the field of construction, and are a prerequisite for a high level of practical training of students.

 

Programme learning outcomes: Graduates in Master programme "Building constructions" have knowledge and skills to:

  • Independent professional work and teamwork;
  • Development of technical drawings, calculations and specifications;
  • Implementation of current national and European standards in the design and building of buildings and facilities;
  • Design of special building structures;
  • Work with specialized software for the design of building structures;
  • Technology and organization of the implementation of special building structures;
  • Testing and evaluation of building structures;
  • Rehabilitation and retrofitting of building structures.
