Awarded professional qualification: Master of economics

 

Level of qualification: Educational and Qualification degree “Master”

 

Duration of the program:

  • semesters  / 1 year – for bachelors and masters of professional degree “Economics”
  • semesters  / 1,5 years – for bachelors and masters from other professional degrees

 

Number of credits:

  • 60 credits(training in 2 terms);
  • 90 credits(training in 3 terms).

 

Field of study (ISCED-F): 0311: Economics (14.3 - 314)

 

Detailed requirements for enrollment: completed higher education – educational and qualification degree“Bachelor” or “Master”.
The candidates applying for the Master program are being interviewed. 
The candidates with a bachelor degree in other professional fields are trained further and in advance in adjustment semester.

 

Specific order for recognition of previous course

 The Department “Informatics and economic” gives primary information and guidelines for the possible recognition and allocation of credits from previous courses after sent e-mail/request on the behalf of the candidate. The students can use previous degrees from number of different universities in the EU, using ECTS credit system. Recognition of credits is also allowed after graduation of CERTTIFITED PROGRAM from VSU, courses or obtained industrial or professional certificates (after review and approval from the department).

 

Requirements and rules for qualification*:
For acquirement of qualification the bachelors and masters from professional field need 60 credits in total, out of them 30 from mandatory disciplines, 9 credits from selective disciplines, 6 credits from department disciplines and 15 credits for dissertation defense.

 

The total number of credits collected by the student during the 2 semesters must be 45 credits, and along with the dissertation are provided the necessary 60 credits for Master degree in accordance with the Low for Higher Education requirements.
For acquirement of qualification for bachelors and masters from other professional fields are required 90 credits, out of them 30 credits from mandatory adjustment semester, 30 credits from mandatory disciplines, 9 credits from elective disciplines, 6 credits from optional disciplines and 15 credits for master thesis defense.

The total number of credits collected by the student during the 3-th semester must be 75 credits and together with the dissertation defense are provided the necessary 90 credits for Master degree in accordance with the Low for Higher Education requirements.
The students of major “COMMERCIALIZATION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY” graduate after master thesis defense.

 

Profile of the Master program:

The training in the specialty "Commercialization of Intellectual Property" is conducted in partnership with the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The education of the students in master program “Commercialization of intellectual property” is conducted in Russian language and in accordance with the European system of accumulation and transfer of credits (ECTS), which gives opportunity for mobility of students and lecturers, implementing practices and internships (Incl. in EU institutions and foreign companies), participation in master classes, conferences, seminars, round tables etc.

Number of methods and approaches are implemented in the education process, that include multimedia presentation of the lectures’ materials, online supporting content, discussions, team work, roll games, case solving, together with lectures by experts form the practice etc.

 

Main results from the education:

 

  • During the education in the mandatory disciplines, the students acquire knowledge and skills in the field of economics, law and management of intellectual property. The students acquire practical skills to develop, use and implement modern knowledge for commercialization of intellectual property.

  • The offered disciplines are synced with the targeted focus for commercialization of intellectual property. During the course are trained professionals for management in economics, law of intellectual property, management consulting, and patent research.

The process of education in the master program “Commercialization of intellectual property” is based on trusted constant contact between the students and lecturers so the educated masters have acquired the necessary skills and competences for implementing the knowledge in the field of commercialization of intellectual property.

The training is accompanied by opportunities for enriching of the professional skills by taking part in seminars, workshops and master classes for new technologies conducted from proven practice experts.

Varna Free University “Chernorizetz Hrabar” is using European Credit Transfer System which means that one credit is equal to 30 hours student workload including 10 academic hours Auditorium Work load( lectures and seminars ) and 20 hours  Outside Auditorium Work load

Type of education: part-time

 

Rules for term exams, assessment and marks:

The assessment of the term exams is on the base of written exams (tests, cases, projects), fulfilled in the auditorium or online and covering the entire study material. After the start of the training the assessment criteria for every discipline is provided and explained. In the final term mark are taken into account and the results from the ongoing assessment during the term and the active participation of the students. The course works and course cases can be presented and assessed before the exam. The student can claim increase of the mark through Front-office. 

 

Department or mandatory windows of mobility 
The students can participate for mobility in the ERASMUS program that gives them the opportunity to research the European business and gain successful realization in multi-cultural environment. They have the opportunity to take part in additional internships and practices yearly organized in: 
Germany – province North Rein – Westphalia and Baden – Wurttemberg in business organizations, trade industrial chambers, municipal and regional administrations. 
Russian Federation – Moscow, Saint Petersburg 
Brussels – in European institutions etc. 
Practices and internships:


Master program “Commercialization of intellectual property” offers very good opportunities for practices and internships in the department laboratories and in real work environments of partner companies including Russian and Bulgarian centers of commercialization of intellectual properties of RNIIIS. Opportunities for internship nationwide and abroad, academies and summer schools in the field of Economics are available. The university and the department ensure useful contacts with experts. 
The successfully passed students in different forms of education get credits in certain disciplines according to the course plan/schedule and certificates so this undoubtedly reflects the formation of professional competencies and CV of the students.


During the course the students must accomplish production and scientific research practice.


The students can take advantage of the opportunities of the European education program ERASMUS, which gives mobility, education and practice in the field.

 

Access to further studies:

Master program “Commercialization of intellectual property” gives opportunities to the successfully passed students to continue their education in other master programs and specialties in the same or other professional direction and/or PhD programs for acquiring scientific and educational degree “Doctor”.
