75 PAPERS WERE PRESENTED DURING THE "ARCIVE" INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION

The tenth International Scientific Conference on Architecture and Construction "ArCivE", organized by the Faculty of Architecture at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", was held over the weekend in the virtual classrooms of the university. "ArCivE" is one of the largest scientific conferences in the field of construction in Bulgaria, which is held every two years. The event is a jubilee and coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities of the Faculty of Architecture and the 30th anniversary of Varna Free University.
The conference brought together experts from the construction industry, designers, researchers, teachers and students from Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Italy and Germany. It was attended by 25 researchers and lecturers, 40 PhD students and 6 students. It provided an opportunity to share experience, to establish business contacts, as well as to discuss the challenges facing the construction sector.
75 papers were presented in several main areas:                                                
  • Contemporary trends in the development of architectural typologies;
  • Sustainable development of the environment and society;
  • Preservation of the cultural and historical heritage;
  • Digital technologies in architecture and design;
  • Building constructions and construction technologies;
  • Building materials and technologies;
  • Safety technology.
The plenary papers were presented by academician Yachko Ivanov - Chairperson of the Scientific and Technical Union of Construction in Bulgaria, as well as Corresponding Member Arch. Atanas Kovachev - Head of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". The most up-to-date moments regarding the so-called Green Deal and the sustainable development of urban areas were presented.
4 prizes for the best papers of young specialists were awarded. Two of the prizes were given to doctoral students from Bulgaria, and the other two - to students from Serbia and Russia.
 
Strict requirements were introduced for the structure and content of the papers, double blind peer-review, as well as precise and in-depth plagiarism checks. One of the main goals of the management of the Faculty of Architecture is the conference to meet the requirements and in the future to be registered in the Web of Science. In this way, it will become the only conference in Bulgaria in the field of architecture and construction, the papers of which will be indexed in the world databases for scientific production.
