On 28.05.2013 Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar" has started the implementation of the project "Updating course documentation and learning process in accordance with the requirements of the labour market". The project duration is 21 months. Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" is the lead organization, and partner organizations are: the National Association of industrial security companies, the "Bulgarian Association of software companies (BASCOM) and the Chamber of Commerce - Varna.

 

The project is co-funded under the "Human Resources Development" program and is worth BGN 195 060.41.

 

193 professors and 10258 students of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". are the main target groups of the project. Among the most essential needs of students is to gain knowledge and skills to help them in their professional development and career perspectives. Therefore, the implementation of the project allows businesses to be actively involved in the development of the curricula, the programs and in the development of practical tasks. This will result in enhancement of the professional skills and improving the professional knowledge of the students. For teachers, on the other hand, it is important to reflect in their work, the requirements of employers for certain skills and specific knowledge. In this sense, the implementation of the project activities will assist their efforts in this direction, through workshops and seminars, the professional networks that will be created during the project will enable teachers and representatives of employers and trade organizations to interact and to join forces by updating the skills of students and endorsing their opportunities for professional development.

 

The implementation of the project will implement good practices of updating and introduction of new study programmes, as well as the creation of new curricula, together with the representatives of business in relation to the dynamics of the labour market. Initially, the project will cover the Bachelor programs at VFU, and during the course of the project the focus will be directed towards the Masters programs. Realization of the project will lead to strengthening the links between the VFU, the research sector and the business, which in turn will multiply the effect of improving the quality of vocational training and career perspectives of graduates in higher education.
