The two-year project "Bread Intern", commenced on 01st November 2013. The lead organization is the Romanian Employers League of the Milling, Baking and Flour Products Industry - ROMPAN, in partnership with the Instituto de Formación Integral, SLU-IFI, Spain, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", Bulgaria, National Research & Development Institute for Food Bio-Resources, Romania and Ataturk Technical and Industrial Vocational High School-ATEML, Turkey.

The project activities will be implemented in the milling and bakery industry at European level. The food industry, which this sector belongs to, is the largest industry in the EU. This sector is the largest employer, with 4.2 million workers, of which 62.8% are employed in SMEs. The focus of the project is on school failure, a phenomenon found in all education systems in Europe. The school failure topic is vast, with reference not only to the field of education but also in areas of cultural, economic, political, social and basic choices of a society.

This project overall aim is to address the problems that the pupils from technical school from milling and bakery have to face in order to maintain themselves in school, transferring the methodology of the comparative study realized in the Eurosea project and applying it to the milling and bakery sector in order to identify the opportunities offered by this industry as a future employer, increasing the students´ interest for this field.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  • Identify the opportunities offered by the milling and bakery industry as a future employer in order to increase the students interest for this field
  • Study of early school leaving and low rate of participation in education
  • Promoting and supporting the development of such school-industry partnership
  • Increase awareness and motivation to prevent and reduce early school leaving phenomenon
  • Promoting the exchange of experience in school dropout prevention and integration of students at risk of dropping out of school in the milling and bakery industry
 

The implementation of the project allows for validation of training which meets the future opportunities which the milling and bakery industry offers students from vocational schools.

The realization of the project will lead to stronger links between educational institutions and businesses, which in turn will multiply the effect of improving the quality of training and employability of graduates.
