in Bulgaria, whose graduates are students of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". The children from the Children's Folklore Dance Ensemble "Kalinka Valcheva" from the city of Tervel, the ensemble "Balkanska Mladost" from Etropole, the ensemble and club for folk dances "Bulgarin", the club for folk dances "Sailors", the club for folk dances "Folklorno veselie" will show their skills. Students from the Secondary School for Humanities and Arts "Konstantin Preslavski" in Varna will also take part. "100% of its teaching staff are university graduates. They are our utmost pride. Apart from the fact that there is a 90% realization  of the graduates, half of them work as managers and assistant managers or choreographers of ensembles, dance groups, folk dance clubs, and the rest also find realization as teachers of Bulgarian dances in secondary education" , says Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivaylo Ivanov, Head of "Artistic and Creative Activities".

Training in the specialty "Bulgarian Folk Choreography" began in 1995, and three years later, the folklore ensemble "Akademika" was created, which fulfills the function of a training ensemble and has a rich concert activity. In May 2008, it was transformed into the Academic Dance Theater "Chernorizets Hrabar". "Why dance theater? Because dance is a type of theatrical art and we train artists who realize their creative projects in the Academic Dance Theatre," explains Assoc. Prof. Ivanov. This year, 24 students from the 1st to the 4th year of full-time study in the "Choreography" major are included in the composition of the Academic Dance Theater, thus there is continuity and the repertoire is inherited. They receive scholarships from the Board of Trustees of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".

The academic dance theater creates a festive mood at every event in the university and the city. Its dancers participated in numerous international and national competitions, from which they have won diplomas, awards and prizes. The Union of Music and Dance Actors in Bulgaria awards the "Crystal Lyre" for excellence in dance art for the country's first music-dance drama performance "You Lovely Red Wine", which is choreographed by Prof. Petar Angelov and the music is by the Academician Nikolay Kaufman.

Prof. Nedyalkova adds that dance and music education is studied in all programmes – bachelors, masters, professional training and doctoral program, and this gives sustainability to the idea and a good perspective. She points out that over 400 graduates were trained in the professional field. They had the opportunity to communicate with the spiritual companions of the university and the first art teachers, among whom are significant personalities such as Prof. Petar Angelov, Prof. Milko Kolarov, Prof. Vlado Ivanov, Gena Dimitrova, artists such as Stoimen Stoimenov, Milko Bozhkov. Those who have chosen other majors at Varna Free University can choose "Choreography" as an elective discipline or as an activity replacing sports in their studies. "This is the role of the major - to build and preserve the values in students of all majors," says the chairperson of the board of trustees. According to Assoc. Prof. Ivanov, the professional field is alive thanks to the creative laboratory Academic Dance Theater, where students build a community and keep professional contacts and good friendships for life.
