Consul General of Turkey in Burgas Tolga Orkun Visited Varna Free University

The Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas, Tolga Orkun, visited Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” and met with the Rector, Prof. Dr Petar Hristov, and the university’s senior management.
Prof. Dr Petar Hristov introduced the university, its educational opportunities and its cooperation with universities and professional organisations in Turkey. Particular emphasis was placed on the Turkish-language teaching offered in the Fire Protection Engineering Bachelor’s degree programme and the Intelligent Security Systems Master’s degree programme.
The Fire Protection Engineering Bachelor’s degree programme is delivered in Turkish in partnership with Sakarya University. It prepares specialists in the field of fire safety, combining engineering knowledge with practical training. The Intelligent Security Systems Master’s degree programme is also taught in Turkish and focuses on modern technologies for monitoring and forecasting the risk of natural and human-induced disasters.
The curriculum covers the protection of the population, material and cultural assets, as well as sustainable development issues.
Opportunities for further developing academic partnerships were also discussed, including joint educational programmes, exchanges of lecturers and students, internships and practical training.
At the end of the visit, Rector Prof. Dr Petar Hristov presented the guest with a silver commemorative plaque of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.
