Varna Court of Appeal and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" have also confirmed their cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Partnership. The document was signed by the Chairperson of the Court, Judge Marin Marinov, and the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov.
With the memorandum, the parties declare their will to strengthen their partnership, aimed at popularizing the achievements of legal science and profession, through educational initiatives on topics of research value, with regard to the implementation of laws in the country and with a view to the practical training of students. Among the expected results is the strengthening of informational and scientific exchange and expert cooperation, increasing interest in legal education and profession.
The Rector, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov, pointed out that the Law major at Varna Free University ranks second in the country according to the National Rating System for 2024. The data show a high level of achievement of the graduates – over half of them work as civil servants, and a significant number of graduates work in the judicial system. Prof. Hristov also emphasized that VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is among the key universities in the country in terms of the number of candidates for junior magistrates, according to the statistics of the National Institute of Justice.
The Chairperson of the Court of Appeal, Marin Marinov, expressed gratitude for the extended hand: “It is an honour for us to be able to partner on a variety of specific topics with which we can be useful to young people, the legal community and the citizens. I have extensive experience of successful work with graduates from the university – as judicial assistants, junior judges and magistrates who graduated from your educational institution. They are truly developing as wonderful professionals,” emphasized Judge Marinov.
“Our organizations have the necessary capacity to expand cooperation to a new level based on common future initiatives and the already accumulated joint experience,” said Criminal Judge Rositsa Toncheva. The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Yonko Kunchev, expressed his conviction that the long-standing contacts between the judicial and educational institutions are a guarantee of the success of the cooperation.
The participants in the meeting emphasized the importance of closer ties between them for improving the quality of legal education and the successful realization of young specialists. The opportunities for joint work in educational projects, prevention activities, and work with adolescents were outlined.
