Elitsa Lukova presents "In Love with Europe in 37 Ways" at the University Library

31 august 2026

The University Library at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” will host the presentation of the book  ’ In Love with Europe in 37 Ways’ by Elitsa Lukova. The meeting with the author will take place on September 3rd, 2026, at 1:30 pm.

The book brings together 37 travel stories from different parts of the continent - from Bulgaria and the Balkans to Scandinavia, Central Europe, and Western Europe. Its 240 pages feature 330 original photographs that complement the stories and convey the atmosphere of the places visited.

Elitsa Lukova is an editor at the University Publishing House at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar,” a member of the Association of Journalists and Writers in Tourism and the Union of Bulgarian Journalists. She is the author of more than 200 travel-related publications and a co-author of several books. For 12 years, she hosted the “Leisure and Tourism” column in Kangaroo magazine.

The first “step” in the book takes readers along the Arda River. Her travel story “The Untamed Beauty Along the Arda River” received the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism’s award in the category “Journalistic Material on Tourism in Bulgaria” in 2021.
“In an effort to discover Europe, I set out on exciting journeys along roads and railway lines, through air corridors and across sea routes, along steep mountain trails and lively city streets. Yet my longest journey always begins in Bulgaria,” the author says.
‘In Love with Europe in 37 Ways’ combines well-known routes with lesser-known destinations, drawing attention to the human stories behind each place. The journey takes readers through the fjords of Norway and Iceland, alpine peaks, Mediterranean islands, vibrant European cities, and hidden corners that lie beyond the traditional tourist routes.
The event will give students, lecturers, staff, and guests of the university an opportunity to meet the author and talk with her about travel, literature, and the stories that connect people, places, and cultures.
