05 october 2026

An exhibition featuring award-winning projects and finalists from the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award has opened at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar.” The exhibition marks World Architecture Day and will remain on display until October 15th, 2026, at the university’s Academic and Sports Complex.

The exhibition features projects from the three EUmies Awards categories - “Architecture,” “Emerging Architect,” and “Young Talent.”

Graduates of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” are expected to participate in the next edition of the competition with their graduation projects.

The exhibition is a follow-up event in the programme of the Second Summer School of Architecture and Urban Environment organized by the Amorfа Youth Foundation and held in Varna in 2026. Under the theme “Transforming the City - Heritage, Nature, Culture,” the programme focuses on green architecture and urban landscaping, cultural heritage, and the “reduce, reuse, recycle” approach.

The school’s concluding program in July featured recipients of the EUmies Young Talent Award, who presented their projects and led workshops. Architect Ivan Blasi, Director of the EUmies Awards at the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona, also visited Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar.”

Following its presentation at the House of Architects in Varna in July, the exhibition is now being hosted by the university. It is organized as part of the Amorfа Youth Foundation’s Summer School program in partnership with the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona and the Faculty of Architecture at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar.” The exhibition is co-funded by the Culture Fund of the Municipality of Varna.
