LECTURERS OF VFU “CHERNORIZETS HRABAR” PRESENT THEIR RESEARCH ON THE ARCHITECTURE OF BULGARIA DURING THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY

The book "Architectural Images - METAMORPHOSeS", in which the authors are leading lecturers from the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Varna Free University, will be presented at the Architect's House in Varna on 21 November 2023, at 5:30 pm.The book contains research by Corr. Mem. Prof. Arch. Atanas Kovachev, D.Sc., Assoc. Prof. Arch. Zhechka Ilieva, PhD, Ch. Assist. Prof. Arch. Petar Nikolov, PhD, Assist. Prof. Arch. Boryana Nozharova - lecturers at the University's Faculty of Architecture.
The publication is a continuation of the bilingual series on Bulgarian architecture from the second half of the 20th century. The focus of the selection and analysis is on the metamorphoses in the architectural image of the Northern Black Sea region and resorts, the urban environment and the parks in Varna, Burgas and Stara Zagora. In separate sections, the book presents a catalogue with detailed descriptions and illustrations of iconic public sites from the second half of the 20th century. The publication is designed with an impressive visual archive, authentic photographs, planning schemes and sketches of the sites presented.
The individual and collective perspectives of young architects and researchers as well as established authors whose creative and scientific achievements have been decisive for the national architectural panorama over a long period have been collected.

"METAMORPHOSES" presents a different view of the architecture of Bulgaria in the studied period, formed by the emotional view and attitude of the authors. According to the reviewer Prof. Arch. Yordanka Kandulkova, PhD "Regardless of what angle, with what emotion and with what attitude, the authors build a rich and multifaceted narrative about the architecture of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast from the last decades of the last century."
