Lyubomir Kyuchukov, PhD: The Concept of "Peace" Has Disappeared from the International Vocabulary

The scientific forum "The World between War and Peace", organised by the Student Council of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", has started. The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and the 25th anniversary of the Student Council and is held with the support of the Municipality of Varna.
 
The forum was opened by Doroteya  Nikolaeva - Chairperson of the Student Council. Special guests were Vladimir Klimanov - Consul General of the Russian Federation in Varna, Yani Yanev - Vice President of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", Lyubomir Kyuchukov, PhD - Director of the Institute of Economics and International Relations, Prof. Galina Shamonina, PhD - Secretary General of the university, many students, faculty and guests.

"At this moment, the conversation about peace and war is painfully topical for humanity," said Yani Yanev, the university's vice president, at the opening. He congratulated the students on the organization of the forum and for the excellent choice of topic - a sign of spiritual freedom. The Consul General of the Russian Federation in Varna Vladimir Klimanov presented the role of historical memory and the influence it has on the development and prosperity of nations. He advised young people to think carefully and analyse specific historical facts. "Work with surgical precision with them," he said.
The speech of Lyubomir Kyubukov, PhD was welcomed with special interest by the participants in the Student Scientific Forum. In it, he said that, unfortunately, war is returning as a way of thinking, as a legitimate opportunity to resolve disputes. "The term 'peace' has disappeared from international vocabulary. Today we are all talking about the danger of war," the analyst told students.

The forum continued with a presentation by Prof. Darina Grigorova, PhD, dedicated to the Cold Civil War or cold ideological peace in post-Soviet Russia. Assoc. Prof. Rositsa Petkova - Slipets - Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, told about the materials and technologies discovered during the war, which are applied in industry and everyday life today.

Five students of Varna Free University will take part in the modules - Valentin Markov will present the topic "The Macedonian Question in Bulgarian Foreign Policy". Victoria Boycheva will develop the case "Chief Suspect - Russia". Vanesa Rosenova will comment on whether there is peace in the war. Architecture students Doroteya Nikolaeva and Tsvetan Mitev will present to the participants the topics "Bunkers - a Means of Salvation and Habitation" and "Cultural and Historical Heritage of St Sophia in Istanbul".

Tomorrow the forum continues with "Media Interpretations of International Processes in the 21st Century", presented by Georgi Markov. The Doyen of legal science, Assoc. Prof. Masis Hadzholyan, PhD will present the historical contemporary dimensions, and Prof. Nina Dyulgerova, D.Sc.  will comment on the modern challenges of the Cold War.

The student scientific forum is organised for the third consecutive year. It aims to discuss current issues and processes in historical and contemporary terms by students and experts.

On 4 June, the Student Council of Varna Free University organises a scientific game "Simulation of the United Nations". In it, student teams will represent UN member states. They will defend the position of the state, which they represent to the other "parties" and will resolve conflicts arising from a predetermined situation. A panel of experts will evaluate the teams that will participate in the competition.
