On the eve of the International Olympic Day, which is celebrated every year on 23 June, Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" organised the traditional Sports Day, which brought together students, doctoral students, faculty, staff and alumni of the university in the East Park.
The event was opened by the Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD who emphasised the importance of the Olympic values for the development of young people and the university community.

The participants took part in competitions in volleyball, football, beach tennis, badminton and table tennis, in gymnastics and sports relay games, which created an atmosphere of team spirit, sportsmanship and good mood.
The sports festival is organised with the assistance of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee – a long-standing partner of the university in promoting the Olympic ideals among young people. In her welcome address, Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD noted that the partnership between the university and the Bulgarian Olympic Committee creates opportunities for students to become closely acquainted with the values of the Olympic movement and the role of sports in building active and responsible individuals.
The International Olympic Day is celebrated at the initiative of the International Olympic Committee in honour of its establishment in 1894 and is dedicated to the values that are fundamental for the Olympic movement.
Varna Free University continues its long-standing tradition of celebrating International Olympic Day and promoting an active lifestyle, team spirit, respect and fair play as part of the university's academic culture.
