RUSSIAN STUDENTS FROM THE MOSCOW UNIVERSITY FOR THE HUMANITIES ENDED THEIR TWO-MONTH INTERNSHIP AT VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR" WITH EXCELLENT COURSE PROJECTS

02 June 2021

Three students from the Moscow University for the Humanities presented their course projects and successfully completed their two-month internship at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". Diana Vecher, Natalia Ivanova and Taisiya Semyonova are the first to do an internship at VFU, after a cooperation agreement has been signed between the two leading universities. The Moscow University for the Humanities at the Russian Academy of Sciences combines the traditions of Russian science with modern requirements for achieving high results in higher education.

The internship was conducted online in Russian. It was led by the famous professors of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" - Prof. D.Sc. Rumyana Mihneva and Prof. D. Sc. Ivo Hristov.

During the defense of the course projects, Diana Vecher presented the topic US-China relations in the 21st century - the new bipolar world? The student pointed out that the study of contemporary US-China interactions is a topical scientific task that allows to draw conclusions about the scenario of relations between global leaders in the new world conditions. The processes of globalization and information are transforming the international relations, with cooperation being the only possible option for regulating non-traditional security issues. In her second presentation, Diana Vecher explores Bulgaria's inclusion in the First World War.

Natalia Ivanova, a second-year student majoring in International Foreign Studies, presented a course project on the topic: Russian emigration to Bulgaria in the period 1920-1944. The task is part of the course Bulgarian-Russian diplomatic relations, taught by Prof. Rumyana Mihneva. The student drew attention to the historical and sociological factors after the changes in Russia and the adaptation of emigrants in Bulgaria. She examines the history and the causes for the great number of Russian emigrants coming to the Balkans and to Bulgaria in particular. Natalia's second topic was related to the development of Russian-Chinese relations in the current conditions.

Taisiya Semyonova presented an excellent course project on Russia's geopolitics in the 21st century. The main purpose of the development was aimed at a detailed study of the geopolitical situation and the place of Russia in it. "Russia is interested in retaining its place as a Eurasian geopolitical center in spiritual, economic, territorial and military terms. Today, not only Russia, but every other country in the world, even the United States, is not able to realize its geopolitical interests without the support of its allies," said Taisiya Semyonova. She was congratulated on her good performance and accurate analysis by Prof. Ivo Hristov.

In the second part of the exam, the student from Moscow reviewed the Russian-Bulgarian relations in the period 1878-1896, immediately after the Russo-Turkish War. She brilliantly examined the consequences of the signing of the San Stefano Peace Treaty, the decisions of the Berlin Congress, the Russian administration in Bulgaria, the rupture in relations between the two countries in 1896 and their restoration by Emperor Nicholas II.

"I am convinced that there are already three students who better understand the complex world of the 21st century at the Moscow University for the Humanities" commented Prof. Mihneva after the defense of the course projects. She expressed her satisfaction with the high level of the internship.
The Russian students, who spent their internship at Varna Free University, were congratulated by Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina - Secretary General of the University.

The internship is conducted on an exchange basis. Valentin Markov and Victoria Boycheva, students from VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", are already studying at Moscow University, actively working on their course assignments and projects assigned to them by the leading professors from the Moscow University for the Humanities.
