STUDENT OF VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY CREATED A DRESS THAT "SPEAKS" OF ART AND DESIGN

20 November 2019

Desislava Veselinova - a fourth-year student of Fashion and Fashion Management at Varna Free University, created a dress that tells stories. In it, the young designer has intertwined in a unique way messages from social networks and fashion. The dress - a work of art, was presented at a fashion show at the TexTailor Expo in Plovdiv and immediately became a hit among the fashion circles and could become part of the vision for the next edition of the forum.

"Today, young people express themselves on social networks. As a designer and creator, I decided that my distinguishing feature would be the clothes I create. That is why the silhouette of the dress is asymmetrical, non-limiting, imperfect - with outer basting, with zippers and working drawings. It shows that beauty does not need perfection. There are also more than 40 messages on it - some funny, some sad, and others provocative," said Desi, who has been developing her own Azaria brand since 2016. "Studying at Varna Free University helped me meet people like me. I learned a lot and made sure that the path I chose was the right one,” the student added.
In the fashion show accompanying the TexTailor Expo, the students Rositsa Georgieva and Stela Dimitrova presented their designs, which also provoked public applause. The designs of the graduate student Stela Dimitrova also took part in the interactive white exposition in the fashion show area of the Fair. At the Varna Free University booth, apparel of students from the Fashion Design and Fashion and Fashion Management majors were presented. They have been inspired by Chanel and made through redesign of denim products. The young designers from the Department of Arts participated in seminars on fashion trends, marketing and advertising and in the workshops of the famous designer Ivan Donev.
Assoc. Prof. Kapka Manasieva, PhD, Head of the Department of Arts at VFU “ Chernorizets Hrabar”, presented the master's degree programme in Designing Practices in the Fashion Industry, which focuses on the training of staff for the global fashion industry and the three most prominent trends in its development: Clothes Pattern Making,  Sustainable Fashion and Styling and Concepts.
Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and the Fashion Design major again defended the quality of education in fashion design in Bulgaria, said Assoc. Prof. Manasieva. She also added that the second edition of the exhibition for textile and fashion has become global.
