Students and Faculty from Varna Free University to Present Collection at Fashion Forum Varna

16 october 2026

Students and faculty members from the Department of Arts at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” will present the “Soft Architecture” collection at the third edition of Fashion Forum Varna. The university’s fashion show is scheduled for October 17th. Students from the Graphic Design degree programme will also work behind the scenes, assisting established designers.
The forum will take place from October 17th to 20th, 2026, at the Grifid Noa Hotel in the Golden Sands resort. Organized by designer Neli Anastasova, the event will showcase collections by designers from Bulgaria and abroad.

Varna Free University’s “Soft Architecture” collection explores the dialogue between structured forms and the softness of textiles. Through textured surfaces, geometric modules, and flowing organic lines, garments become sculptural architectural structures for the body.
The concept was developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kapka Manasieva and Assist.Prof. Diana Miteva. The project brings together the outcomes of Fashion Design education and the distinctive visual language of the lecturers. The garments and accessories trace the progression from mastering fundamental principles of garment construction to developing them further through experimental designs.

Second-year students demonstrate their application of essential skills in pattern construction, garment production techniques, and precision in shaping silhouettes.

Students in the upper years explore more complex geometric and sculptural forms, patchwork techniques, raised cubic elements, and repeated patterns that create three-dimensional textures.

The faculty collection by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kapka Manasieva and Assist. Prof. Diana Miteva completes the project with a mature and fully developed interpretation of deconstructivism and the creation of form.

The colour palette draws on the contrast between earthy olive tones and powder pink, expressed through satin-finish fabrics. Loose, geometrically structured silhouettes are complemented by voluminous details and accessories integrated directly into the garment construction.

For the third consecutive year, students from the Department of Arts will participate in the forum as assistants to established designers. Their varied backstage responsibilities form part of their practical training across several subjects, including Fashion Design and Styling, Fashion Image, and Creative Marketing.
