How can fake news be recognized? How can information be verified? How can critical thinking be developed in a digital environment?
These questions were discussed by students from the Municipal Children’s Complex in Varna during the traditional
Communications Workshop held at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.
The initiative brought together students from key schools in Varna, including members of the
“NahODKi” editorial board and the complex’s Graphic Design Studio.
The guest lecturer was Miloslava Georgieva, a public relations expert, who introduced participants to methods for identifying fake news, the importance of fact-checking, responsible online behaviour, and ways to report cybercrime. Dr. Petar Pavlov, head of the Media Center, presented the history of the center and the capabilities of the educational radio studio, where students develop practical media skills.
The participants also visited the University Library and the Admissions Center, and attended a live recording of an interview with Emiliyan Yalamov - a graduate of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”, Varna-based journalist, photographer, and creator of the maritime video podcast
“Tales from the Cockpit.” He also serves as organizer and Head of Public Relations at the Municipal Children’s Complex.
At the end of the
Communications Workshop each participant was awarded a certificate.
The event was hosted by the Public Relations Department at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.
