The internship of the students at the master's degree programmes Cultural Tourism Management and Advertising and Public Relations in Business Management took place over the weekend in Silistra. The initiative was implemented with the active support of the mayor Alexander Sabanov - a graduate from both programmes.
Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Kalaglarski - head of the master's programmes, the students listened with interest to the lecture of Prof. Dr. Rumen Draganov, dedicated to the management of communication strategies in tourism, as well as the regulatory and legal regulations in the field of advertising, PR and tourism activities. During a round table in the meeting hall of the Silistra Municipality, Prof. Dr. Georgi Atanasov gave a presentation on the topic 'Durostorum - Drustor - Silistra 106–2025'. He spoke about the rich history, culture, civilization and iconic monuments of the city from antiquity to the present day. Prof. Dr. Evgeniy Sachev delivered a lecture on the national identity of the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria and the opportunities for the development of pilgrimage tourism. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kalaglarski and Prof. Dr. Draganov actively participated in the discussion and examined topics related to unused opportunities for the presentation of Bulgaria to the world and the significance of the most ancient Bulgarian treasure. Of particular interest was the presentation given by Elisaveta Alexandrova-Zangelmi, founder of the Center for Interdisciplinary Training and editor of the newspaper 'Harmony and Light', on the topic 'Bulgaria - Mysticism, Esotericism and Energy'. She presented the opportunities for the development of alternative and pilgrimage tourism, as well as tourist routes to energy-significant places in the country.
With the support of the Municipality of Silistra and the Director of the Regional Historical Museum Kaloyan Dimov, the participants enjoyed a fascinating talk about the museum and its exhibitions.
The internship ended with an impressive photo safari in the Srebarna Biosphere Reserve and a visit to the Natural History Museum of the reserve. A talk was given by the director Elena Ilieva. The views of the lake, the variety of birds and the unique nature left a strong impact on the participants. The reserve is part of the list of world cultural and natural heritage.
The students were invited to visit Silistra again to get acquainted with other cultural sites that were not included in the programme of the two-day pre-graduate internship.
The training practice turned out to be extremely beneficial for improving the knowledge and skills of the students from both master's programmes.
