THE BOARD OF TRUSTEE OF VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR" PROVIDES 30 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TRAINING IN THE MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMME "CIRCULAR ECONOMY"

30 September 2021

Because of the 30th anniversary of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", the Board of Trustees decided to support the development of the innovative educational project "Circular Economy" by providing 30 scholarships for students in the master's degree programme "Circular Economy" for the 2021/2022 academic year. The initiative was supported at the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria during its XXXIV General Assembly.

The Master's degree programme in Circular Economy is taught under the patronage of the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Environment. It is the first programme in the country, integrating in complex and innovative training the current problems of the protection of the environment and efficient resource management in accordance with international, European and national standards. The programme aims at increasing administrative capacity in the transition from linear to circular economy.

The master's degree programme is designed to prepare and train managers and experts with professional interests and responsibilities in the field of ecology, efficient use of resources and sustainable development of the regions.

The first class of students studying the issues of the circular economy included mainly experts from the municipal and regional administrations in Varna, who are directly related to environmental protection. As part of the training, they developed solutions to specific problems, some of which found practical application and were presented at international scientific forums.

Applicants to receive the scholarship of the Board of Trustees of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" must send a letter of motivation or recommendation from their employer, and if they are employees of the municipal administration - a letter of support. The deadline for submitting applications is October 20, 2021. The duration of the training is one year (two semesters) for bachelors in the professional field of Economics and three semesters for bachelors in other professional fields. In addition to bachelors, masters can also apply for the master's programme. The duration of their studies depends on their bachelor's degree. The training is part-time, taught in Bulgarian.
