Aneta Dimitrova and Desislava Georgieva - third-year students majoring in Architecture at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" are in the TOP 3 at the national stage of the XVII International Architectural Student Competition, organized by Saint-Gobain. The students defended the SimplyCity project in front of a expert jury of prominent university professors, architects and company representatives.
This year the task at the international edition of the Architectural Student Competition was developed jointly with the Municipality of Warsaw and is to renovate the area of the Warsaw East Railway Station. The students had to present their vision for the development of the territory, taking into account the terrain and the plan of Warsaw to achieve climate goals by 2050. The project also includes the restoration of an old factory to be used for integration of the local community and construction of new student housing.

The E-Dea team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" focused on the comfort and healthy living environment in the design of their project "SimplyCity" - a multifunctional green complex. Special emphasis in the project are the atrium, the climbing wall and the open exhibition space. The proposed renovation of the factory preserves its beautiful facade as part of the city's cultural heritage, but turns it into a modern center for meetings and cultural events, to present traditions and crafts. The buildings are a unique synthesis between modern building materials and vegetation, spreading along the interesting construction of the terraces. The project offers rich landscaping - one of the most sought after elements of modern European urban architecture.
"Green facades not only cool the premises, but also affect the microclimate in buildings, improve the air and reduce environmental pollution. The accent in the skywalks connecting the buildings are the panoramic photovoltaic glasses. These connections are simultaneously overflowing with greenery conservatories, recreation areas and emergency stairs. The constructions naturally lead to the green roofs of the residential buildings ", said the third-year students Aneta and Desislava. They were the youngest participants in the national round of the competition, competing with graduates from the architectural faculties of other Bulgarian universities.

The project of the team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", managed by Prof. D.Sc. arch. Alexander Slaev, will be presented at the scientific conference at the Faculty of Architecture and other upcoming forums.
The competition has been held for 17 consecutive years and takes place in two stages - national level, in which teams consisting of students in architecture from Bulgarian universities participate. In the second, international stage, the winners of the national competitions will present their projects in front of an international jury. The students majoring in architecture at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" have extensive experience in participating in the prestigious competition. In the 10th anniversary edition, fifth-year students Valentina Petrova and Kaloyan Dimov won first place in the national stage of "Multi Comfort" with a project entitled "School of the Future". In 2017, the students Polina Slavova and Angel Petrakov, who were fourth-year students at that time at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" presented Bulgaria in Madrid with the project "Multi-Comfort House".
