THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM THE PREPARATORY LANGUAGE COURSE VISITED THE ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM IN VARNA

18 Април 2024

The international students from the Preparatory course for language and specialized training at the Department of Foreign Languages and Postgraduate Qualification, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", visited the Ethnographic museum in Varna for educational purposes. They familiarized themselves with the culture and lifestyle of the people from the Varna region in the second half of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

The Bulgarian folk costumes, which give an idea of the demographic image of the region, turned out to be particularly interesting for the students. Varna clothing is distinguished by its great diversity due to the complex migration processes that took place in the first decades at the end of the 19th century, blending the folk costume heritage of the local population and with that of immigrants from Thrace, Asia Minor and Macedonia.

The students of the Preparatory course expressed contentment and  satisfaction with the opportunity to receive valuable information about the culture, traditions and customs of the Bulgarians.

The visit is part of the curriculum for language practice and acquaintance with Bulgarian culture. The museum exhibits dioramas of the main livelihoods of the Bulgarians from Varna – agriculture, animal husbandry, beekeeping, fishing, viticulture, as well as crafts such as cooperage, coppersmithing, fur crafting and abaji (tailors).
