In the Language Centre of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Continuing Education at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar,” the beginning of the Bulgarian and English language training in the preparatory course for foreign citizens was officially announced in a ceremonial setting. This academic year, interest in the course is exceptionally high. More than fifty foreigners from Bangladesh, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Azerbaijan, China, and Cameroon have enrolled.
Explanations regarding the organization and implementation of the educational process in the course, as well as wishes for successful and productive preparation, were expressed by Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina – Dean of Students and Event Management, Dr. Boryana Kostova – Director of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Post-graduate Qualification, Nikolay Dragoev – Head of the Educational Marketing and Admissions Department, as well as other lecturers from the Department.
This academic year, as part of the preparatory course, in order to enhance the students’ knowledge, skills, and competencies in both languages, and to provide a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and traditions of the Bulgarian people, several off-site lessons are planned in various museums in Varna, along with the traditional language practice entitled “The Old Capitals of Bulgaria.” The course participants expressed their willingness and readiness to take an active part in the educational process, as well as in other cultural, educational, and sports events organized by the university.
