THE SECOND VOLUME OF THE COURSE IN FORENSIC SCIENCE OF PROF. YONKO KUNCHEV, D.SC. WAS PUBLISHED

15 January 2021

The second volume of the course in forensic science of Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc. – Dean of the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” and Head of the master’s degree programme in Forensic Studies at the university, was published. The monograph was published exactly a year after the publication of the first volume of the Forensic Science Course which analyses the historical and theoretical foundations of forensic science.

The subject of the second volume of the Forensic Science Course are the forensic theories of the traces, diagnostics, differentiation and identification. These theories and the methods based on them determine the methodology of forensic knowledge in investigative and expert practice. Both the first and the second volumes are intended for the bodies of the pre-trial proceedings, the court, expert witnesses in the field of forensic examinations, the operative-investigative bodies and the technical assistants.

The Forensic Science Course fills a significant gap not only in forensic theory, but also in the curriculum of forensic education. It is an excellent textbook in the university training in forensic science – for the students majoring in Law and Crime Prevention and Public Order Protection (the Forensic Science module) and the master’s degree programme in Forensic Examinations, as well as for all who show a deeper interest in Forensic Science.

With his books, with the forensic laboratories created with his active participation as well as with the rich practical, research and teaching experience, Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc. has made a huge contribution to raising the level of forensic training of the students at the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”. In 2020, Prof. Kunchev was presented with the Varna Award for the first volume of the Forensic Science Course, for the creation of a complex master’s degree programme in forensic examinations and a study module Forensic Science at the university.

At the beginning of February, the public online course in Profiling of Known Perpetrators of Crimes will be led by Prof. Kunchev. The event is eagerly awaited by both students and practicing experts.
The publication of the third and the fourth volumes of the Forensic Science Course is forthcoming.
