The Student Council of Varna Free University and the management of the university met with the National Representation of the Student Councils in Bulgaria. Issues related to the important place of private universities in the Bulgarian educational system, student lending, the successful passage of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" through the emergency situation in the country, the innovative organization of the educational process and the start of the new academic year were discussed.
Daniel Parushev - Chairperson of the National Representation of Student Councils, stressed the importance of cooperation with Varna Free University. He commented on the excellent work and activity of the Student Council of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", which is a respected member of the National Representation of the Student Councils.
Yani Yanev - Vice President of Varna Free University pointed out that students and their interests are the leading force in the nearly 30-year history of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". "The state of emergency has led us to re-evaluate values. We put the health of the students and the academic staff first, we created a new communication environment at the university", said Prof. Dimitar Kanev - Vice-Rector of the University. He added that in a very short time, back in March, the learning process was fully ensured and the virtual classrooms were open to everyone. This has led to a boom in attendance at lectures and seminars, as well as the inclusion of students from other specialties in courses in which they are interested. "We have demonstrated the strength of our academic community. The state of emergency has made us sustainable and effective", added Prof. Kanev. Varna Free University will start the academic year earlier - in September, and is ready for training in an electronic environment, for face-to-face training or for the introduction of hybrid forms.
The Chairperson of the Student Council of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Doroteya Nikolaeva insisted on assistance from the National Representation of the Student Councils to change the interest rates on student loans, which are among the highest in the EU.
