THE YOUNG REPORTERS OF THE MUNICIPAL CHILDREN’S CENTRE VISITED VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" welcomed special guests - students from leading Varna schools, who participate in the publishing of the NahODKi newspaper, a publication of the Centre for work with children - Municipal Children's Complex - Varna. More than 20 young reporters from the Castalia and European Bridge clubs of the Municipal Children's Complex, who study in the 1st Language School, "Frédéric Joliot-Curie"4th Language School, the Mathematical Secondary School, "Nayden Gerov" Secondary School, the Commercial Secondary School, "Konstantin Preslavski " Secondary School for Humanities and Arts and "I am Bulgarian" Private Secondary School got to know the university and participated in the Communications Workshop. The hosts of the event were the PR department of the university, the Media Centre and the Faculty of International Economics and Administration, where the master's programme in Advertising and Public Relations in Business Management is conducted.

In the training radio studio, the students had the opportunity to talk about themselves while practising techniques for working in front of a microphone. They showed excellent knowledge of public speaking and learned how to master their voice, timbre and body. The head of the Media Centre, Petar Pavlov, told about the history of the university radio centre, and that the students receive their training with real studio equipment. In the television centre, the young guests learned from the public relations expert of the VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Miloslava Georgieva how they should prepare for media participation - preliminary preparation, special messages and last but not least, body language and the role of clothing. The conversations in the studio provoked interesting opinions about career guidance, the role of parents and teachers, overbuilding and urban planning.

Later, the young journalists were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of International Economics and Administration.

 During the visit, some of the students crossed the university threshold for the first time. They explored the University Library with interest, where they had the opportunity to get acquainted with a rich book treasury containing 116,000 items and even to get acquainted with the archive issues of the newspaper of Varna Free University. An interesting fact is that in it the children came across materials written by Emiliyan Yalamov, with whom they work today in the preparation of the famous NahODKi. They found out about the technological achievements of Varna Free University at the Institute of Technology. The guests were particularly impressed by the Admissions Centre, where they were welcomed by Alex Marinov. He spoke about the special place where every student's journey begins. The young journalists also learned about the active activity of the Club.

At the end of the Communications Workshop each of the participants received a certificate of participation.
