To the Attention of the Students Majoring in Psychology: Specialized Training on Modern Trends in Addiction Treatment

Specialized training on the topic 'Modern Trends in Addiction Treatment' will be held on May 13th, 2025 from 09:30 to 12:30 in Hall 3 at Varna Free University Academic and Sports Complex. The training is aimed at students majoring in Psychology who want to expand their knowledge in the field of addictions and modern therapeutic approaches. Participation is free of charge.

The training will be taught by Milena Petrova, Chairperson of the Foundation for Life, Member of the Board of the Bulgarian Association of Addiction Specialists and Head of the "St. John of Rilski" Addiction Treatment Center, as well as Todor Zhelyazkov, Co-Founder of the "St. John of Rilski" Center.

During the training, various models of addiction treatment, the challenges of psychotherapeutic work, the cognitive model of substance use (Aaron Beck and Corey Newman), as well as practical guidelines and examples from real therapeutic work will be examined. Time is also provided for questions and discussion.

Milena Petrova has many years of experience in addiction rehabilitation, prevention of risky behaviors and training of specialists. She is the author and head of a programme for psychosocial addiction rehabilitation and a certified trainer in various educational programmes. Todor Zhelyazkov is an expert with extensive experience in individual work with addicts and their relatives, skilled in psychosocial support and analysis of the development of addicts. He also has knowledge of the latest methods in rehabilitation.

The training is an excellent opportunity for psychology students to get acquainted with current trends in working with addictions and to exchange experience with key specialists in the field.
