VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY SIGNED COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH ANKARA UNIVERSITY

17 june 2026

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" has expanded its international academic partnership by signing a cooperation agreement with Ankara University - one of the most authoritative and largest higher education institutions in the Republic of Turkey. The document was signed in Ankara by the rectors of both universities - Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD and Prof. Necdet Yunuvar, PhD.

Ankara University is the first university established after the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey and today is among the leading academic institutions in the country with dozens of faculties, research centres and international partnerships. Among its graduates are diplomats, senior civil servants, regional governors and representatives of the Turkish Foreign Service around the world. The university maintains active international programmes and a network of academic agreements with universities in over 50 countries.

A trilateral project is also being prepared between Varna Free University, Ankara University and Khazar University in Azerbaijan, aimed at developing modern models for protecting the population in the event of natural disasters and man-made accidents. The initiative is based on Varna Free University’s long-standing experience in security training, disaster, crisis and risk management, as well as on the university’s established international partnerships in the Black Sea region.

The signing of the agreement is another step in expanding the international presence of Varna Free University and in establishing it as an active participant in scientific and educational networks that work for sustainable development and the security of society.
