VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABER" LAUNCHES THE PROJECT KNIGHTS IN CYBER SPACE WITH KEY CYBERSECURITY EXPERTS

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" will train 180 university students, lecturers, psychologists and school teachers from educational institutions from the municipality of Varna, who work directly with children and young people in an online environment. This will be done under the Knights in Cyber Space project, which is implemented at the beginning of the new school year with the financial support of the Municipality of Varna, Directorate Education and Youth Activities.

The event will be opened on September 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the hall of the Youth Center in Varna. Leading Bulgarian cyber security experts Simeon Nguyen and Yavor Kolev will give lectures and demonstrations.
Simeon Nguyen will demonstrate some of the capabilities of the latest hacking gadgets as well as the most common cyber threats. He is a cyber security expert and penetration tester. He graduated in systems programming and has a bachelor's degree in psychology. He has been working in the IT field for more than 10 years and holds various hacking certifications. He is a university lecturer in ethical hacking.
Yavor Kolev is an international expert in cybersecurity and countering cybercrime. He has 25 years of experience in fighting against organized and high-tech crime.

The objective of the project is to create an educational community, which will have the necessary knowledge to recognize cyber risks, which has the means for responsible and committed action in the event of cyber incidents. The project also aims to educate and help students protect themselves in online environment. The knowledge of cyber defense mechanisms acquired by all participants in the educational process will contribute to more effective protection of the young generations who are educated in schools.
 The team of the Knights in Cyber Space project believes that along with digitization in education, it is necessary to pay serious attention to the security of IT systems. Events in recent years have proven the rise of cyber attacks, which have increased by nearly 300% compared to previous years. Over 4,000 attacks per day are carried out on virtual networks. Cyber security incidents can affect the functioning of schools, the security of their data and their reputation. Cybersecurity is critical to the success and mental health of young Alpha generation growing up in the digital age.
