Young scientists are the focus of two international scientific conferences that began today at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.

A total of 53 student and doctoral dissertations are included in the programme of the forums Economic Transformations in the Global World and Applied Psychology and Social Practice, which are held as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the university.

The scientific forums were opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Social, Economic and Computer Sciences, Prof. Anton Grozdanov, PhD, who emphasised the importance of young researchers for the development of science and the academic community. He noted the increased interest in the conferences, whose programme includes over 140 scientific reports.

The participants were welcomed by the Vice-Rector, Prof. Dimitar Kanev, D.Sc. In his speech, he emphasised the role of universities in preserving the scientific method, academic culture and continuity between generations of researchers.

“Preserving the scientific method is our duty. Conferences are the place where different ideas meet, critical thinking is developed and scientific continuity is built,” said Prof. Kanev. According to him, curiosity, critical analysis and the willingness to subject every scientific thesis to scrutiny remain the basis of academic knowledge.

On behalf of the academic management, the participants were also greeted by the Vice-Rector, Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD.

The official opening continued with a plenary report by Prof. Emil Panushev, PhD, Head of the Department of Economics. In his presentation “Geopolitical Realities and European Dimensions of Bulgaria’s Foreign Economic Policy”, he analysed current international processes and their impact on the development of European economies.

The International Scientific Conference Economic Transformations in the Global World is held under the patronage of the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the University, Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, PhD. It is attended by scientists and researchers from nine countries – Bulgaria, Israel, Italy, China, Lebanon, Nigeria, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine.
The discussions focus on the challenges facing the global economy, European Union policies, international competitiveness, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the digital transformation of society and business.

In parallel with it, the 25th International Scientific Conference Applied Psychology and Social Practice is being held, which brings together lecturers, psychologists, doctoral candidates, students and specialists from Bulgaria and abroad. The programme focuses on the student-and-doctoral section with 30 student reports presenting results of educational and research activities.
