COMPUTER SCIENCES FOR THE LIFE PRESENT SCIENTISTS, UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, DOCTORAL STUDENTS AND THE BUSINESS AT VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR"

The International Conference "Science and Business for Smart Future" will be held on September 13, 2021, at 2 pm, at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". This year the event is dedicated to biotechnology, and the organizer and host of the forum is the Department of Informatics at the university.
The BioTech panel is the second part of the conference Science and Business for Smart Future 2021, which aims to present partnership practices and develop new joint projects between the participants. The event will be held entirely in English in hybrid form - in person and online. It will also be broadcast live on the VFU page "Chernorizets Hrabar" on Facebook.

During the conference Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Momcheva and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stoyan Pavlov will present the results of the research and entrepreneurial ecosystem BioMed-Varna, with participating researchers from Varna Free University, Medical University - Varna and their academic and business partners from the country and abroad.

Projects and community initiatives to promote good practices for Varna - City of Knowledge will be presented during the conference. Many new joint developments in the field of interdisciplinary topics for research and innovative business solutions in the field of biotechnology and IT business will be initiated.
Of particular interest for the participants and guests in the BioTech-panel is the topic "Genetic programming - the rising star of artificial intelligence", which will be presented by the world-famous scientist and practitioner Dr. Arthur Cordon. Dr. Manlio Vinciguera will present a project to establish a stem cell center in Varna.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trifon Chervenkov from the Department of Medical Genetics at the Medical University of Varna will introduce the audience to the initiative of BioMed-Varna to create a project for metagenomic analysis of wastewater in Varna in partnership with BioVoda Ltd and Quanterall Ltd. Metagenomic analysis of wastewater from settlements gives dynamic information about the health status of the populations. By analyzing the dynamic information about the ecosystem from microorganisms living in the waters from different regions and separating wastewater from human activity, new knowledge about the interactions between humans and microorganisms can be gained, information can be obtained and new interactions of importance for health, industry, agriculture can be discovered. The map of microbiological diversity can be referred to various other data for the respective regions and can be used to build effective systems for monitoring and forecasting the health of large groups of the population.
 
Three educational projects of great importance - the master's degree programme "Circular Economics" at Varna Free University, the project of MU - Varna in partnership with VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" - "Creating a multidisciplinary educational environment for staff development with integrated competencies in the field of biomedicine and healthcare ”and the D-Care project “Developing, piloting and validating smart care models in the Danube region for supporting social innovation, improving competencies and entrepreneurship” of the Regional Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovations – Varna (RAPIV) will be presented during the forum.
The event will end with a jazz concert in the park of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
