REPRESENTATIVES OF VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR" TOOK PART IN THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF HISTORY IN VIBORG, RUSSIA

The town of Viborg hosted an International School of History, which was attended by 150 young people - foreign and Russian university and doctoral students from nearly 50 countries. The event was organized by the Russian Historical Society, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the State Academic University of Humanities.
More than 700 students and young scientists applied for the School, competing for 150 places. All proposals of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" were approved by the Organizing Committee, which noted the high level of the submitted motivation letters. Our university was represented by seven participants - Valentin Markov, Siya Mihaylova, Dorothea Nikolaeva, Christian Ivanov, Victoria Boycheva, Miglena Dimitrova and Yasmin Barakat - bachelors, masters, doctoral students from the three faculties and young associates with excellent knowledge of Russian and active participation in competitions and initiatives of the Russian Center. They presented the university with dignity during the School.
Two of our students successfully completed a distance internship at the State Academic University of Humanities at the Russian Academy of Sciences in June this year. A cooperation agreement was signed with VFU Chernorizets Hrabar University in 2019.
Our participants were assisted by Prof. D.Sc. Rumyana Mihneva, who provided them with literature for preliminary preparation on the historical topics of the School and by Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina - on Russian language and culture.

For the students, their participation in such international forums is a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge of the history and culture of Russia, to meet famous scientists, heads of academic institutes, leading universities, major archives and museums, to be supported in the implementation of their own historical and educational initiatives.
 
The participants were greeted by Prof. Konstantin Mogilevsky, Member of the Presidium of the Council of the Russian Historical Society, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, Executive Director of the History of Fatherland Foundation, Academician Alexander Chubaryan, Scientific Supervisor of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Assoc. Prof. Denis Fomin-Nilov, Rector of the State Academic University of Humanities. Sergei Naryshkin, chairman of the Russian Historical Society, also made a video address.
 
From the first day, the participants were divided into four groups/teams, and each team was involved in a rich educational programme, including online lectures, as well as a competition for a scholarship.
VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" was presented in three thematic tracks, dedicated to the history of Russia, the modern achievements of Russian science and culture and art of modern times. Each group of students prepared and presented their own research project. Christian Ivanov - PhD student at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" in the Department of Psychology reached the semifinals in his field.
In addition to lectures, master classes and project work, the participants' programme included cultural trips, including one to St. Petersburg, where the work of the teams continued. One group visited the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of Peter the Great at the Russian Academy of Sciences, the second - the Military History Museum of Artillery, Engineering Troops and Communication Troops, the third - Peter and Paul Fortress, and the fourth - the Russian National Library.
The intensive educational programme and the work on the projects lasted a whole week. Our participants were awarded certificates.
All participants gave enthusiastic feedback about the School and what they have learned there. They all have warm memories of their colleagues from different universities, of the friendships and contacts. The associates of the International Department of Varna Free University also have proposals for new partnership agreements, including one with the Moscow State University.
