Varna Free University gathers representatives of 27 municipalities in integrated waste management training

More than 100 representatives of local authorities and business from 27 municipalities from Smolyan, Plovdiv, Pazardjik, Kardzhali, Bourgas and Sofia regions will participate in an additional training course on Integrated Waste Management which is to be held on 16 and 17 of March 2018 in hotel "Orpheus"of Pamporovo resort.

  The official opening of the forum is on March 16, 2018 at 1:30 pm in the Eurydice Hall.

 The event is organized by Smolyan Branch of Varna Free University with the support of the Smolyan District Governor Mr. Nedyalko Slavov. The lecturers will include the Minister of Environment and Water Mr. Neno Dimov, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Water Mrs. Ivelina Vassileva, Mr. George Kremlis, Head of the "Cohesion Policy and Environmental Impact Assessments" Unit in the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Dombalov, Director of the Balkan Scientific and Educational Center for Ecology and Environmental Protection, as well as representatives of the municipalities of Rudozem, Zlatograd and Parvomay, who will share good practices in the process of waste management.

The training is part of the program of the Institute for Integrated Management of Municipalities, established at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" with the mission to contribute to the sustainable and intelligent development of the municipalities by preparing staff for their management, developing the research, entrepreneurship and innovation in compliance with the Smart City concept.

The forum will be opened by the president of Varna Free University Prof. DSc. Anna Nedyalkova. The District Governor of Smolyan region, Mr. Nedyalko Slavov, will also attend the meeting.

The topics of the training are related to integrated waste management. The program includes 2 panels with the corresponding member Prof. DSc. Atanas Kovachev, Director of the Institute for Integrated Management of Municipalities being the moderator.

 Within the frames of the program, Minister Neno Dimov will present the problems and challenges to the circular economy and eco innovations, and the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Commission for Environment and Water Mrs. Ivelina Vassileva will comment on the legislative framework of waste management policies. On the second day of the training, a presentation by the representative of the European Commission Directorate for the Environment, George Kremlis, is delivered.

 The discussion after his presentation (on March 17th from 09:45 to 10:15) will be open to journalists. Minister Neno Dimov, the president of Varna Free University Prof. DSc. Anna Nedyalkova and the Smolyan District Governor Mr. Nedyalko Slavov will also take part in it.
